Clear Creek Blue Plum Brandy is Oregon's definitive take on one of Eastern Europe's oldest and most beloved spirits — and the benchmark by which American slivovitz is judged. Blue Plum Brandy — known as Slivovitz in Eastern Europe, Quetsch in France, and Zwetschgenwasser in Germany — is pot distilled from a pure fermented mash of Italian Blue plums grown in the Pacific Northwest. Clear Creek has received many gold medals at the U.S. Slivovitz competition since 2004 — even in years they haven't entered — with judges stating "Clear Creek Blue Plum Brandy is simply the standard by which all other slivovitz is judged." Drinkers who've been subjected to slivovitz in its rougher forms may approach with trepidation, but there's nothing to fear here — with notes of bright fruit on the nose and flavors of ripe plum balanced with the heat of an unaged distillate, it's a nicely rounded eau de vie. Supremely aromatic with a soft, oily texture that coats the palate, while fresh prune plums galore on the palate deliver just the right level of sweetness to complement the fruit flavor without becoming cloying.
